I'm Jules, an illustrator, writer and storyteller based in the heart of England.
Initially, I worked in education before taking a leap of faith, setting up an art and design business, exhibiting in galleries, working with publishers and undertaking private commissions.
I enjoy being my own boss - it's a dream job, mainly because I get to eat copious amounts of Tunnock's Teacakes, drink tea all day and there's no dress code!
At the core of my practice are the elements of play and experimentation. My approach to a project is very much an intuitive one, rendering and adapting artwork to each theme and audience. This affords me greater artistic freedom and I'm always inspired to seek out new ways of working. My repertoire is constantly developing and I never get stuck in a rut or bored.
I draw much of my inspiration from the natural world and real events both past and present. I also have an irrepressible curiosity for people and life in general.
I recently graduated from Cambridge School of Art in 2021 with an MA in Children's Book Illustration (Distinction)
Illustration for Older Fiction Prize 2021
